Ranbir Kapoor and Mahira Khan's growing closeness had been the talk of the town in 2017. Whispers of a clandestine relationship began doing the rounds when the two actors were photographed together at an event in Dubai. When pictures of Ranbir and Mahira bonding over a smoke in New York were leaked on the internet, the rumours only intensified.
However, if a report in DNA is to be believed, Ranbir and Mahira's relationship has gone kaput. A source is quoted as saying, "Their friendship has fizzled out. Ranbir and Mahira will always remain cordial but that's because of the kind of people they are."

Apparently, Ranbir and Mahira met through a top Bollywood actor, who was a common friend. The two instantly hit it off and since Mahira faced some hostility in India post the Uri attacks, she and Ranbir would catch up on foreign shores.

Buzz is that things went south when pictures of them smoking went viral. Mahira faced a lot of trolling and backlash and eventually, she apologised for her "mistake". All this took a toll on their relationship and Ranbir and Mahira decided to end things as 2017 came to an end. However, they continue to remain cordial with each other.

On the work front, Ranbir's next big screen outing will be Rajkumar Hirani's Sanjay Dutt biopic. The film, which also stars Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Paresh Rawal and Manisha Koirala in key roles, is set to hit the screens on June 29, 2018. Meanwhile, Mahira has two Pakistani films, Saat Din Mohabbat In as well as Maula Jatt 2, in her kitty.
